One very important part of your safety gear when you are riding your motorcycle is a helmet. wearing a helmet can protect you from receiving a traumatic brain injury or even dying. When it comes to helmets, there are several different kinds that you can choose from.
Full Face Helmet
These helmets will cover your entire head and face. They have a chin bar to make sure that the helmet is fitted correctly to your head and to help protect that area of your face. They also usually have a clear plastic piece that goes over your eyes and face. One some models, that piece will flip up. The full face helmet also has different configurations to choose from, depending on what kind of riding you do. For example, if you ride a sports bike, aerodynamics are an important thing and you will tend to lean forward more on the bike so that you can take advantage of those aerodynamics. Full face helmets for that kind of riding will generally have a higher chin bar and will have an eye port that is more angled up towards the top of the helmet. On the other hand, if you ride a cruiser and sit up straighter as you are riding, then the helmet that you need will have a lower chin bar and the eye port will be angled so that it is more straight.
Open Face Helmet
An open face helmet is what a lot of people think about when they think about motorcycle helmets. They just go over your head and strap under your chin. Generally, your face has no protection from anything, but some helmets will have a visor that you can flip down so that at least your eyes are protected from any debris that gets kicked up off the road as well as any dust, rain, or bugs. If you don't have one of those visors, then you will probably want to wear some sunglasses or something similar to protect your eyes, and possibly wear a bandanna that you can pull up over the bottom of your face on the days that there is a lot of dust around.
Wearing a helmet while you are on your Harley Davidson motorcycle is really important. Even if you don't wear a lot of other safety gear while you are riding, this isn't one that you should pass up because it can save your life.Share
